Much like FM voice radio signals may be retransmitted by a repeater, digital APRS packets may be retransmitted by a digital repeater (a digipeater). Digipeaters allow mapping stations to receive packets from trackers that are on the other side of a mountain or otherwise out of direct radio contact.
